Shakura’s Powerful Vocal Range On Show
Barbados music lovers are in for a treat later this month with a chance to see world class blues and jazz singer Shakura S’Aida.
The hugely popular Canadian entertainer is making a special guest appearance at the Honey Jazz Barbados Gala Concert at the Frank Collymore Hall in Bridgetown.

Empowering Women
Shakura is in demand across the world. She has performed in Dubai, Australia, Russia and even Rwanda.
She has a reputation for connecting with audiences and her powerful vocal range allows her to bring out the best from both original songs and more familiar standards.
A programme like HoneyJazz is close to her heart. She has spent a lot of time mentoring young people in Canada, helping them deal with social and peer pressure through song, poetry and self-reflection. Shakura is being flown in by the Canadian High Commission, which is keen to support initiatives on the island which empower women.
As part of the Honey Jazz Festival, Shakura will be hosting a workshop for local artists.
The Honey Jazz producers are keen to introduce jazz to the next generation and encourage the public to sponsor students who can’t afford to attend the event. Jessica Rose, one of this year’s performers, benefitted from the programme last year.
Contact honeyjazzbarbados@gmail.com if you’re interested in sponsoring a student.
