Whistling frogs, the sound of the night

They really are the star of the island’s night life. The sound of the tropics – particularly during and after rain – is not the cicada, but the tiny whistling frog. It is of course unique as it gives birth to live young – but is still an amphibian.

Until I get round to taking a photo of one, you’ll just have to put up with my cuddly friend here.

Or just close your eyes, click play and imagine yourself in Barbados, listening to the sound of a Caribbean night after a cooling rain.
